From Tokyo’s sacred Mt. Mitake to the Shikoku Pilgrimage – A Journey of Prayer and Walking
This 6-day spiritual hiking tour connects the mountain worship traditions of Tokyo’s Mt. Mitake with sacred pilgrimage sites in Shikoku. Deeply rooted in Japan’s spiritual heritage, the journey offers an immersive experience of nature and traditional faith.
In the first half, you’ll explore Mt. Mitake in Tokyo’s Okutama region, visiting Musashi Mitake Shrine, hiking along ascetic trails, staying in a temple lodge, and participating in the sacred morning ritual Nikkusai. It’s a serene time to realign the body and spirit within nature.
In the second half, you’ll head to Shikoku to visit pilgrimage temples around Takamatsu, starting from Okuboji (Temple 88) and continuing to temples like Nagao-ji, Shido-ji, and Yashima-ji. Along the way, you’ll also visit a local soy sauce brewery, cultural archives, and traditional gardens—experiencing the rich blend of faith, food, people, and nature that defines Shikoku’s local culture.
This is not just a tour—it’s a slow, spiritual immersion into the living faith and memory of each place. One step at a time, walking becomes prayer.

Arrive in Shinjuku from Haneda or Narita Airport
